About LAC
The Lancaster Alumnae Chapter was originally chartered November 23, 1975 as the Lancaster-York Alumnae Chapter when 12 interested members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. from both the Lancaster and York communities stepped forward to form a sisterhood of service to both areas. Charter members were Wanda Long Brantley, Mary Copper*, Betty Mitchell Crenshaw*, Julia Hines-Harris*, Ethel Grace Holliday, Catherine Jones, Carolyn Wheeler Maxey, Delois B. Nichols, Madelyn Nix, Genora Orr*, Gwen Smith Rankin, Mary Jennelle Robinson*, and Juanita Dennis Wright*.
Over time, the chapter transitioned to the Lancaster Alumnae Chapter in the mid-eighties. Historically, the chapter has sponsored and/or participated in various events and service to the local community that include voter registration, scholarships exceeding $75,000 to a diverse population of students within Lancaster County and Oxford, PA, mentoring pre-teen and young teenage girls, Brightside Opportunity Center's Annual Health Fair, and educational programs in the Arts and Sciences. More recently we have sponsored a series of financial workshops designed to assist our community in becoming financially fit.
Our chapter looks forward to the ongoing growth of our sisterhood and our commitment to providing service to our communities.
